Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation programmes can help people with injuries regain some or all of their lost skills, as well as restoring self-confidence.
Rehabilitation is the process of overcoming or learning to cope with the damage an injury has caused. It is about getting back to normal life and achieving the best level of independence you can, by:
- relearning skills and abilities
- learning new skills
- adapting to some of the limitations caused by a stroke
- and finding social, emotional and practical support at home and in the community.
Our Occupational therapists may also help you to continue carry out leisure activities you enjoyed prior to your injury; help recruit and train employed carers; assess for and arrange appropriate equipment demonstrations to suit your individual need; work with architects and builders to make adaptations to the home; and advise on environmental modifications to help someone get back to work (for example adapting an office to accommodate a wheelchair or other specific needs).
For those who have lost skills or confidence in activities of daily living and everyday tasks following illness or injury, Leap therapies can work with you to regain confidence and skills in areas you consider important to you. The aim of treatment would be to promote the independence of an individual, working with them in their own environment to achieve their personal goals.
